Our vision was to develop a real alternative to teak. And by teaming up with the Fraunhofer Institute for plastics engineering in Darmstadt, Germany, we came up trumps. The result was a 100% recyclable plastic that’s barely distinguishable from real teak wood in both look and feel – but has some key advantages on top:
With HLF you get a form-fitted, watertight deck flooring. HLF is not made from welded boards, but is produced in the form of self-contained matting. So there’s no chance of any potential weak spots in your decking. The HLF fitting system gives you two options for laying your deck: either the conventional way by applying adhesive first, or the self-adhesive “peel & stick” method. In both cases, there’s no need to weight down your flooring.

All we need to produce your personalised deck flooring is a digital data set of your chosen motif, image or lettering. And, thanks to our design software, we can also tailor the width and layout of the slats to the shape of your boat and the features on deck.

Laying the covering was really uncomplicated.

The HLF deck is now a year old and we’re still delighted we chose it!
I was looking for a new deck for my steel yacht, as my teak deck was getting on in years (50) and was sadly no longer watertight! We looked around and compared material, performance, price and design.
We narrowed it down to an original teak wood as well as the HLF, which, in terms of durability, can easily hold its own against wood!
Ultimately, it was the appearance and functionality of the HLF covering, as well as the price, that convinced us to use this material on our boat.
